Custom Labels
There are many of these, one of
which we offer being ultra thin laser engraved
labels for mimic type applications where the
thickness of the traditional label would be too
noticeable (traditional labels are available in 1.6
and 3mm material).
This of course covers thousands of different types and sizes, but for the purpose of this publication we limit our comments to some of the most common and also ones that we at Engraving World are competent to undertake.
The most common method of producing small to medium signs in our modern economy is by the use of computer-cut vinyl lettering and graphics. As in the case with many computer technologies this has all but replaced the traditional sign writer. Presentable, practical and economical signs and graphics can be produced in a very short time.
The vinyl material for lettering is available in a wide range of colours, qualities, and is made suitable for most applications. Typically vinyl is available for indoor and outdoor applications and supplied in different quality grades usually specified by number of life years under certain conditions (a typical life being 10 years indoor and 7 years outdoor).
Cheaper varieties are of course those available, which will peel off in a few months, but the correct grade of
quality
material applied correctly
offers excellent value and long
life. Simple applications for
indoors would be room or company
identification.
For prestige identification plates such as doctors rooms - engraved brass would still be preferred to a vinyl sign, although today the brass would probably be replaced with a heavy traffolite gold look material which is unlikely to be stolen for scrap resale.

range of letters of many sizes
in almost any material such as
stainless steel which can be
laser cut and mounted three
dimensionally to give a dramatic
effect.

These are usually made from translucent Perspex mounted in an aluminium extrusion illuminated from the rear with fluorescent lights.
The sign message is made from cut out letters in Perspex or letters and graphics produced in vinyl and then applied to the Perspex.

We offer bar coding labels in 0.6 mm aluminium. These are extremely durable and cannot be changed or defaced as is the case with paper labels. The aluminium labels are applied with a special epoxy glue that ensures that the label cannot be removed without leaving some evidence.
We can also laser engrave batches of hard tools or special equipment with names or barcodes.
